It’s fall (officially), although it does seem to be a bit late getting started. Meanwhile, let’s think awesome autumn thoughts and look forward to appreciating more fall-like weather soon.
Roll (and run) on the River with Spark!
Speaking of fall, Spark is excited to announce the return of Fun Run & Roll, Spark’s fundraiser designed with accessibility in mind.
The fourth edition of our community fundraiser is happening Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, and — news flash — we’ll be at a new site!
All the action will start at 9 a.m. at Cherokee Farm — the University of Tennessee research and recreation center on the Tennessee River, just off Alcoa Highway in South Knoxville.
All are welcome – from serious runners to walkers and rollers who take fun seriously. We will have a Knoxville Track Club-sanctioned 5k race as well as a 2-mile inclusive course for kids and adults to run, jog, walk or roll with assistive devices.

Friml Fans Unite!
We want to thank comedian Tina Friml one more time for coming to Knoxville and performing to raise funds for Spark! The Aug. 22 event at the Mill & Mine was a big success, and feedback from attendees was out of this world!
From the moment we met Tina, thanks to Spark board member Alicia McMurray-Smith, we were fans. And when she came to town in March and did a limited-seating show as a test run, we absolutely fell in love with her. The Vermont native made herself at home here and, in our eyes, is a gen-you-wine honorary East Tennessean!
